we are in constant awe at the rich cycles and pure joy which Naftaland has brought into our lives. Starting with a plot of land in Central Oregon, and a handful of pet Alpacas, Jacob Sheep, and Llamas, our family of five took seemingly little and turned it into something special: Naftaland. After bringing a greenhouse into the fold in 2015, repurposing Alpaca manure into fertilizer became the obvious next step. Today, our small, self-sustaining farm not only churns out premium buttery yarns, but also enough produce to sustain our family and our community.
serve as a constant reminder to our family to look at and celebrate our lives with purpose, to not take anything for granted. And we want the same for our customers. Because you care about quality, process, and sustainability as much as we do. Because you want to encounter inspiration in the products you consume and the businesses you support. And because you want to feel connected on every level, whether you’re looking into the depths of another animal’s eyes, or holding one of our luscious yarns in the palm of your hands.
It’s a precious thing indeed, with those long, thick lashes and oversized, chocolatey peepers blinking in your direction. The moment your eyes meet, you’ll encounter a somewhat unexpected connection, a reminder of life beyond ourselves. At Naftaland, when you hold one of our hand-spun yarns up close to your skin, we want it to feel like looking into the wide-set eyes of an Alpaca, with elements of truth and whimsy and life reflecting back at you.
our small-batch yarns are clean, natural, and free from animal-cruelty. With such simple origins, it’s easy to take one of our plush skeins, your favorite needles, and let loose in any direction. In fact, we encourage such revelry and always make time for play ourselves—from putting on fun and educational children’s programs at the farm, to spending hours with our scampering herd, to taking on furry, new family members one rescued Alpaca herd at a time. When you knit with Naftaland, you move beyond the basics and into an ethos rooted in preserving, nurturing, and keeping it fun.
our yarns are all about reflecting the love and attention we pour into them. fun. As part of this, we intentionally preserve the natural hue of each animal, letting you see and experience exactly where your yarn comes from. More than just product, Naftaland yarns are a conduit for connection and a model for how we can choose to live organically, with purpose, and in tune with the world around us. So go ahead, give our yarns a high-five. We promise they’ll high-five you back.
